Interview with Edward Mazria

When Edward Mazria saw the statistic that buildings consume 75 percent of the electricity produced in the U.S. and emit half of its greenhouse gas, the noted architect set out to transform an industry. The Santa Fe, N.M.-based visionary has established Architecture 2030, which consists of the 2010 Imperative, which calls for new buildings and major renovations to reduce their fossil fuel consumption by 50 percent by 2010; and the 2030 Challenge, which calls for all new buildings to be carbon neutral by 2030.
