Next American Vanguard 2010

Jobs at NAC

Business Developer

Next American City is a dynamic, growing media organization dedicated to encouraging economically, socially and environmentally sustainable cities. We are searching for an entrepreneurial and creative person who craves a more sustainable world, and also has a great business sense, to serve as our Business Developer. S/he will help bring in revenue to support our award-winning quarterly magazine, daily website and monthly events series.

The ideal manager will be at ease talking to mission-based non-profit directors and marketing directors alike. This person will engage likeminded national organizations and corporations, encouraging them to join NAC as sponsors of events and editorial content. The manager will grow our revenues streams through online marketing opportunities and bulk subscription deals. We want someone who will bowl us over with dozens of potential partners and a messianic zeal to see those relationships become profitable.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing NAC’s non-profit and corporate contacts for sponsored events and issues of the magazine
  • Developing bulk subscription deals with partner organizations
  • Researching and producing online direct mail campaigns
  • Thinking creatively about how to increase alternative revenue sources
  • Overseeing contract staff and interns and leveraging their skills to maximize NAC’s revenue

The ideal candidate is a true self-starter who is also comfortable working as part of a team. S/he should be passionate about Next American City’s mission and confident that s/he can make its programs profitable.

Compensation includes both a competitive base salary and performance incentives. The job is located in downtown Philadelphia; occasional travel necessary.

Next American City offers health and dental insurance and ample vacation time.

Interested candidates should email hiring@americancity.org. No phone calls, please.

Deadline: 12/31/2009
