When my family moved from Denver to Tucson almost eight years ago, it became apparent that something significant was missing: locally brewed beer. While there were dozens of brewpubs and microbreweries in the Denver metropolitan area, there were only a handful in Tucson. A few weeks back I traveled to Loreto, Baja California Sur, the quaint home of Baja’s first mission. There I visited the Villages of Loreto Bay, eleven miles south of the town. Loreto Bay is a mixed-use, new urbanist development that, at buildout, will house some 6,000 homes, plus commercial areas, a golf course, community gathering areas, and more.
