The Next American City Playlist

Many thanks go to Corrie in Austin, Tx. for the Google Map representation of the release party’s playlist from everyone at Next American City! The interactive map can be found above as well as here on Google, where you can add things to it and adapt our playlist for yourself. Can you think of more city-centric songs that are missing from the list? Maybe you’re just upset that there wasn’t more Interpol? Let us know in the comments below!

Benjamin Gilbert is the web intern at Next American City. He can be found blogging and twittering across the web, especially here.

hmm, how about “youngstown” by bruce springsteen, “look out cleveland” by the band, “let’s move to cleveland” by frank zappa, “good morning morgantown” by joni mitchell, and “graceland” by paul simon?

and also “decatur,” “chicago,” “flint (for the unemployed and underpaid),” and “detroit, lift up your weary head” all by sufjan stevens.

Personally, “All My Ex-es Live in Texas” would’ve done it for me but that’s quite the list you’ve compiled there. We should add it to the list as to keep a living document of American city songs (both from the original playlist and submitted by readers). Thanks!
