  Michael Nutter, mayor of Philadelphia, will help local NPR partner station WHYY kick off its new multi-platform broadcast program, It’s Your City tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m. The live hour-long program offers Delaware Valley residents the opportunity engage the new mayor.

  NAC attends ‘Reinventing Older Communities - How Does Place Matter?’ conference

  The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia sponsored a three-day conference at the Marriott Philadelphia Downtown Hotel from March 26 to 28, 2008. “Reinventing Older Communities” drew hundreds of politicians, planners, and architects, including Mayor of Philadelphia Michael Nutter and former Mayor of Torino, Italy, Valentino Castellani, whose administration served during the 2006 Winter Olympic games. The focus of the conference was sustainable design with consideration to historic urban communities.

The panel consisted of Dirty Coast T-Shirt company creative director Blake Haney, Neighborhood Partnership Network director Timolynn Sams, Consciously Rebuilding co-founder Andrea Floyd, and Dr. Janet Speyrer, associate dean for research and economics at the University of New Orleans.

  Under the steel towers of Philadelphia’s Center City construction, a candlelight vigil was held to commemorate Homeless Memorial Day.
